Funding Available for Future, New and Established Organic Farmers
15 September 2025As environmental pressures mount and public awareness grows, more farmers and crofters are exploring ways to work in harmony with nature. Organic farming offers a proven path forward—one that prioritises soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare while reducing reliance on synthetic inputs. Transitioning to or sustaining an organic system could be a meaningful step toward a more resilient future for your land and community. In support of this shift, the Scottish Government is signalling strong political backing for those ready to embrace this sustainable approach.
Organic farmers and crofters commit to rigorous standards that prioritise environmental care and food quality. Transitioning to organic requires thoughtful planning. The conversion process typically spans two years, during which your farming practices must align with organic certification requirements. To support this journey, the Farm Advisory Service (FAS) offers tailored advice on best practices, access to organic markets, and strategic business planning to help ensure your organic system is both sustainable and economically viable.
Whether you plan to convert or are an established organic farmer, up to £3,200 of funding is available through FAS for specialist advice. To find out more and apply, visit www.fas.scot/specialist-advice/ or contact advice@fas.scot or 0300 323 0161.
