New entrants to farming: enterprise profitability – event summary

Our first speaker Kev Bevan, took the section on Using Figures to Make Money. This focused on using quick, simple calculations to gague business decisions and come to the most viable option for your farm. He made particular reference to Beef and Sheep enterprises after establishing those were the most relevant farming systems to the group. Each scenario was done as a group so the attendees were able to interact and ask questions as we went along.

The second speaker Jim Campbell, spoke on renewables and went through the different enterprises available, giving some figures on current incentives and payments for each. He also discussed future renewable options and also reiterated some of our first speakers points in proper planning and thinking ahead to maximize enterprise profitability.
