Unsure about Mentoring? Hear from Those Who’ve Benefitted
3 December 2025Starting out in farming or crofting can feel overwhelming, but support is available to help you build confidence and make informed decisions. Through FAS new entrants can receive practical, tailored guidance to help you succeed. Not sure how you can benefit from the support? Here’s what others who’ve taken up the support have to say:
“Buzzing with confidence and couldn’t wait to get started”
“(The support) has been invaluable to us”
“I’d recommend the FAS mentoring programme to anyone new to farming or crofting – it’s a brilliant way to build confidence and learn from someone who’s been there before”
One of the grants on offer is the FAS Mentoring Grant. This provides new entrants with up to four days of fully funded support from experienced mentors across Scotland. To be eligible, you must have set up or become head of a farming business within the last five years and hold a Business Reference Number (BRN). FAS will fund your mentor up to £1,200. For more information on mentoring or to apply for funding, visit our Mentoring grant page or contact FAS at advice@fas.scot or 0300 323 0161.
