Forage crops can provide a range of benefits, including business resilience against variable fodder supplies, low cost out-wintering and opportunities to expand farm output. We recently filmed three case studies with farmers in the Borders in which they share their experience of growing and utilising forage crops. In this video, Robert Neill from Upper Nisbet Farm explains how and why he has out-wintered some of his in-calf cows on a rape, kale and stubble turnip mixture.
