Virtual fencing is an up and coming technology that is gaining popularity, particularly in Australia and New Zealand and has great scope for use in Scotland. In episode three of the Thrill of the Hill series the Farm Advisory Service (FAS) talks to agricultural consultant, Malcolm Macdonald (SAC) who has been involved in a project investigating the potential uses of this technology, including cost and capability of equipment, the market for virtual fencing in Scotland, opportunities arising from the technology, things to watch out for and implications for traceability and policy.
