Benefits of Pregnancy Scanning and Recording Individual Ewe Scan Data – Factsheet
This factsheet looks at the multitude of benefits of not just noting flock pregnancy scan and splitting ewes by lambs carried for better feeding but also recording individual ewe scan results. As having multiple years worth of pregnancy scan results for each ewe allows us to make much more improved breeding and culling decisions.
The practicalities of recording this data (got to be fast when the scanner is working) as well as the technology available are discussed with a case study from SRUC’s Kirkton & Auchtertyre farms.
