Nature Based Solutions to Combat Rising Fertiliser Costs

The rising costs of inorganic fertilisers alongside concerns regarding their environmental impact has seen many Scottish farmers explore alternative solutions. To ensure sufficient nutrients are available for plant uptake, a number of nature-based solutions can be employed. These methods combine promoting good soil health and utilising organic fertilisers as a way of ensuring nutrients are retained in soil. Utilising these approaches can reduce fertiliser input costs while minimising damaging effects of inorganic fertilisers to the wider environment.
