Case Study: Isle of Mull Cheese

Posted in

Isle of Mull Cheese is a traditional farming business adding value to milk by making artisan cheese. Chris and Jeff Reade were first generation farmers in Somerset before moving to the island in the 1980’s. With their four sons they started off milking 10 cows and selling liquid milk locally. The farm business has grown since, now milking around 130 cows and selling cheese across the UK, as well as to local retail and hospitality businesses on Mull. Lily Reade, one of 10 grandchildren, sits down with her granny Chris to talk about how the business has changed over the years and their plans for the future.
