Plugging the Protein Gap in Scotland – Legumes (webinar)

Posted in

Legumes have untapped potential in Scotland and offer the opportunity to add increased diversity to an arable rotation or a break crop between grass leys.

Researchers at SRUC have been involved in the broader European project “Legumes Translated”, which aims to increase knowledge exchange and advocates for an increased production of legume crops for food and feed value chains.

In this virtual meeting, the first in a two-part series, we look at the benefits of using legumes in arable rotations and as standalone crops in grassland units. And with the 2021 application window on the horizon for the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) we discuss the role of legumes and cover crops and their impacts on ecological focus area compliance.
