Our first Ayrshire Women in Agriculture meeting this year will be a day trip to the Isle of Bute. This event aims to showcase some excellent farms on the island and discuss how they run their systems.

Please note: This is a multi-day event running from Sunday 12th – Wednesday 15th July. Attendees will be expected to attend all three days. Study tour to the commons of North Yorkshire and the Lake District for Clerks, Committee Members and Crofters of Common Grazings, providing an opportunity to learn how others are addressing similar challenges on their grazings, share experiences, and discuss potential solutions.

We will discuss practical strategies for sustainable parasite control and protect the long-term effectiveness of wormers and optimise lamb growth rates. Matthew Colston from Elanco will speak about fluke and worming approaches that improve sheep health while reducing parasite resistance and which anthelmintic group to use when. Perry Parkinson will talk about Fecpak and how it works. Also, SRUC Veterinary Investigation Officer Megan Fergusson will speak about ticks and sheep scab and how best to treat these.
