Plugging The Protein Gap: Red Clover
Red clover is a forage legume which can improve soil structure and fertility, it can remain as a productive ley for 2 to 3 years with harvesting occurring 3 to 4 weeks after grass. The inclusion of red clover in the diet of a ruminant can reduce the cost of protein supplementation as it has a crude protein content of between 17 and 21%.
