Future payments to dairy farmers may alter with more emphasis on the environment and biodiversity.

The BRIDE – Biodiversity Regeneration in a Dairying Environment – project in Ireland has been investigating how a results-based payment scheme could work whilst protecting and enhancing the biodiversity on lowland intensive farms. During this webinar held on 18 November 2021, our guest speaker was Donal Sheenan, a dairy farmer first and foremost, but also the project manager for the BRIDE project in Ireland. Donal explained how the project works and how farmers can integrate lots of little management changes throughout the farmed area to improve both biodiversity but the value of the farm.
