The Farm Advisory Service has been running Women in Agriculture events since 2017, following the publication of the “Women in Farming and the Agriculture Sector” report by the Scottish Government. The discussion groups and the Facebook group are open to all women working in Scottish agriculture, from those with daily involvement in a farm business, to those who are just starting out and interested in finding out more about farming. New attendees are always welcome, and you are welcome to join any meeting even if it is not in your local area. Meetings vary from daytime workshops to evening seminars.
We have covered a range of topics: grassland management, making the most of EID, animal health and welfare, soil management, farmland conservation and biodiversity, diversification, carbon audits, personal development and record keeping.
There are a series of events planned for each region for 2024/2025. Check the events section below for upcoming meetings. The groups are funded by FAS and facilitated by SAC Consulting staff in the following regions:
Aberdeenshire and Angus, Argyll, Ayrshire, Borders, Caithness, Inverness, Lanarkshire, Lothians, Morayshire, Orkney, Perthshire, Stirlingshire, Western Isles, Wigtownshire
