Wet, boggy pasture is a good habitat for the snails which are necessary to complete the fluke’s lifecycle. This means it is not a good place for quarantining new stock.

If new animals are carrying fluke which is resistant to treatment, they could contaminate the pasture and introduce the resistant parasites to the snails on your holding.

To keep resistant fluke out, avoid isolating new animals on wet or boggy ground.
