Courtesy of the Macalister family, our workshop is aimed at farmers in Argyll looking to improve their return from better grassland management.
Michael Shannon, of Damn Delicious, farms near Biggar in Lanarkshire on a 100 ha forage only basis. He finishes 150 head of mainly Angus beef stores each year, and runs 280 Scotch Mules. He will look at the introduction of electric fencing, improving livestock grazing in a controlled manner.
- Introduction of electric fences
- Increase grass utilisation to improve profitability and maximise profit per acre
- Improve LWG to 2-3kg per day from grass alone
- Preparing for winter
