Innovative approaches to control diffuse pollution – Lugton, Ayrshire ** POSTPONED **
* * * With regret we have had to postpone this event * * *
You are invited to join us at South Biggart Farm near Lugton to explore the options available to maximise the benefits from water margins on your farm.
We’ll have working demonstrations during the day, including a drone, Springback fencing and alternative watering equipment.
You’ll hear about riverbank protection options – do you have a water course that is prone to erosion? How can you decide whether it needs stabilised by soft or hard engineering options? What is involved in each and what, if any maintenance will there be?
Hear from our agricultural ecologist about the wider environmental benefits that water margin habitats can bring to your farm business and how management requirements set by AECS funding streams can improve your farm. Finally, SRDP funding may support you to include riparian planting across areas of your farm, our woodlands expert will discuss what options are available to you.
We’ll have the following guest speakers in attendance:
- Dr Lorna Cole, Agricultural Ecologist, SRUC
- Simon Gibson-Poole – SRUC Researcher into technology and information systems
- Peter Jones, Senior Woodlands consultant, SAC Consulting
- Lucy Filby, Farming & Water Scotland
- Representatives from Garnock Connections.
