Managing farmland for wading birds (webinar)
Wading birds such as Lapwings and Curlews have disappeared from large parts of Scotland in recent years.
The sight and sound of them in spring-time has been a familiar and much-loved part of the farmed environment for generations and many farmers and land managers are working hard to try to conserve them. This webinar replaces a meeting originally planned to take place on Finzean estate in Aberdeenshire, but cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The factors that have contributed to their decline and the measures that can be taken to reverse it will be discussed. Grazing management, wader scrapes, predation, cropping, soil health, weather and the future of agri-environment support are among the topics that will be covered.
