Women in Agriculture Lanarkshire: Grassland and Soils
At this first Women in Agriculture event of the new session, we will focus on soils and grassland.
Grass is the most important crop on any farm and is quite often overlooked.
This meeting will cover some of the basics of
Grass species and weed identification
Fertiliser applications for optimum production
Reseeding methods.
If you have any particular issues, troublesome weeds or poorly performing grassland there will also be an opportunity to bring along a spadeful of your sward for assessment by the consultants.
This event will begin in Glassford Hall, and then move on Craigthorn Farm by kind permission of the Fleming Family.
Suitable clothing and footwear should be worn.
Speakers:
Lorna Galloway – SAC Consulting Grassland specialist
Jennifer Struthers – SAC Consulting Senior Consultant
